Galaxy Displayed Latest NIR Analyzers at EAS19

The Eastern Analytical Symposium and Exposition has ended, and Galaxy Scientific was pleased to have exhibited this year. EAS is an annual event that provides continued education, including a look into new technologies, for scientists and students in the analytical and allied sciences. The symposium featured papers, workshops, and short courses in addition to oral and award sessions, special lectures and poster sessions.

According to 2018 Program Chair, Christina Robb, “The 2018 Eastern Analytical Symposium celebrated the value of analytical science in the world at large. Themed “Analytical Solutions to the Worlds Problems”, the program combined talks over a wide variety of applications including water quality, food safety, forensic analysis, human health and disease, cultural heritage, mobile measurement, proteomics, pharmaceutical analysis, metabolomics, materials, and the environment. The application-oriented talks were matched by presentations dedicated to the advancement of the specific analytical techniques of measurement including HILIC, mass spectrometry, multi-dimensional chromatography, GC, solid-state NMR, ion chromatography, LIBS, ICP-MS, SFC, solution-state NMR, FTIR, Raman spectroscopy and microscopy. Focusing on the complete skill set practitioners to require, EAS also featured talks on regulatory affairs, compliance, CRO/CMOS, and lab management.”

Presenting the latest in equipment, services, and technologies, over 100 exhibitors, including Galaxy Scientific, offered product developments in NIR, FT-NIR, and more. Galaxy Scientific displayed their innovative high-performance portable QuasIR™ Series of FT-NIR analytical instruments, designed to tackle critical diagnostic problems and engineered for field or lab use.

To be sure, Galaxy Scientific is already looking forward to EAS20.

Galaxy’s FT-NIR Spectrometers Featured at VIV in Bangkok

Galaxy Scientific’s portable high-performance QuasIR series of Fourier transform near-infrared spectrometers were exhibited at the VIV Asia 2019 Feed and Food Show, which took place on March 13th-15th in Bangkok. The instruments were shown by Adisseo Asia Pacific Pte Ltd.

Adisseo gave live demonstrations using a QuasIR FT-NIR spectrometer in combination with their cloud-based PNE (Precise Nutrition Evaluation) NIR database to analyze various feed ingredients for the common proximate values such as protein, moisture, fat, fiber, etc.

In addition, it was demonstrated how the Galaxy Scientific spectrometer, with the Adisseo PNE database, measures digestible energies as well as key amino acids in commonly used feed ingredients. This quick cloud-based analysis provides feed producers with valuable information about the nutrients in their feed ingredients, enabling cost savings while maintaining animal nutrition performance.

How to Verify Incoming Raw Materials Using FT-NIR Spectroscopy: Webinar

Live Webinar: January 23, 2019

11:00 am PT/2:00 pm ET

Galaxy Scientific is partnering with Quantum Analytics for a live webinar on the topic of using FT-NIR spectroscopy for raw material identification through packaging.

When raw materials are purchased, it is critically important to verify that the correct substances have been received for quality, regulatory, and economic reasons. Often the incoming materials need to be opened, sent to a lab, and tested while inventory waits to be cleared for use.

Near Infrared spectroscopy offers a simple and reliable way of verifying the content and quality of incoming materials. This helps streamline existing processes or set the foundation of new incoming quality initiatives.

Recently, innovations in near-infrared processing algorithms have mitigated the need to open incoming material bags, allowing FT-NIR to scan materials through the packaging.

Our partner, Galaxy Scientific will demonstrate the usefulness of FT-NIR spectroscopy for basic incoming material verification and show the new ability to sample through plastic and paper packaging.

By attending our webinar, you will learn:

  • Basic use of FT-NIR spectroscopy to verify incoming raw materials
  • Qualitative and quantitative algorithms used in material identification
  • Advanced methods used to scan through plastic and paper bags without opening them

This webinar is ideal for:

  • Pharmaceutical Operations Managers
  • Quality Control Managers and Technicians
  • R&D Manager at food and pharmaceutical companies
  • Plant Managers and Supervisors
  • Laboratory Technicians and Operators

FT-NIR Webinar: Analysis of Edible Oils Using Spectroscopy

Once again, Galaxy Scientific is please to announce that we will be partnering with Quantum Analytics to present a live webinar discussing the benefits of FT-NIR analysis for edible oils.

Fats and edible oils are recognized as essential nutrients in human diets and are presented in varying amounts in many foods. They not only provide the human body with a concentrated source of energy, but also supply essential fatty acids that are precursors for important hormones.

The benefits of FT-NIR spectroscopic analysis of fats and edible oils include:

  • Real-time analysis; generally less than 10 seconds measurement time
  • Ability to analyze multiple parameters with a single measurement
  • Elimination of sample preparation time with non-destructive sampling
  • Cost effective solution
  • Safe-to-use method requiring no training for the tester

This live webinar will explore the advantages of FT-NIR for edible oil analysis:

  1. Real-time results for iodine value (IV)
  2. Peroxide value (PV)
  3. Free fatty acids (FFA)
  4. FT-NIR as a proven tool for detecting oil adulteration
